[UPDATED] Horten H-IX 229 V3/4 WW2 flying wing
by ElGordo26
This model additionally needs Durfs Mods. These are the following: - The Modpack - The Modpack Polygons - The Modpack Polygons Ultralight (sand coloured parts) - The Modpack Polygons Glass - The Modpack Polygons Glow - maybe also The Modpack Legacy Sorry if I don't remember everything correctly, just grab the Reuploads of Durfs Mods here on the Steam workshop. It works fine. NOW LINKED IN THE MODLIST ➡️➡️➡️ FOR BEST LOOKS USE ADVANCED PHYSICS! Smart Physics will bug flaps visually! This is the updated variant of my Horten 229. Since I wasn't able to update the original blueprint I uploaded this one separately. It will get more updates if I find further cosmetic/functional things in need of change. Outdated original blueprint: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id while flying reduces lag most of the time!). Since this thing went through numerous rebuilds and so much other fixing and test runs (see timeline picture) an UPVOTE 👍 would be very much appreciated, only if you like it of course. It uses the mods shown on the right side of the page → Controls: IT IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED TO CUSTOM MAP THE CONTROLS (FOR EXAMPLE TO YOUR NUMPAD)! ALWAYS PULL YOUR FLAPS UP WHEN YOU START, OTHERWISE NOT ENOUGH UPWARDS LIFT IS GENERATED FOR TAKE-OFF! [1 Open the cockpit hatch (button is located under the nose of the plane in the front landing gear cavity) [2 Flaps up [3 Flaps down [4 Roll left [5 Roll right [6 Activate Cannons [7 Retract/Open landing gear SLOWLY DOUBLE-TAP WHILE FLYING FOR LESS LAG! [8 Start Engines [9 Yaw left [10 Yaw right IF THE PLANE STARTS BUGGILY DRIFTING INTO A SPECIFIC DIRECTION / OR HAS BAD FPS → SLOWLY DOUBLE TAP [7 WHILE FLYING FOR LAG REDUCTION OR TAP THE CONTROL FOR THE BUGGY DIRECTION! EXAMPLE: Plane drifts to the LEFT, tap YAW LEFT shortly, or wiggle around a bit with both yaws! This CAN fix the issue! FAQ: - Use advanced physics for normal looking flaps! Smart physics visually bug them out! - Moving parts might/will get stuck. To fix this respawn the plane or try very aggressive flight maneuvers. - This aircraft CAN RARELY bug out and fly off into Nirvana, due to a lot of bearings being integral in its design. Best call is to backup your world before doing excessive maneuvers/crashes. Also always turn the engines off before you eject. - The old 2017 version is also in the workshop. If you really want to see the beginning of my work (but why? lol) you can still download it here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1144390906 - Why is the planes speed slower than its real speed (up to 1000km/h), especially since it has turbines for jet propulsion? Because the physics of the bearings would bug out badly and the maps are too small. I'd love to have actual jet-speed and airbattles on bigger maps but so far Scrap Mechanic says "Nope". Sorry. - The armed variants of the Horten 229 (so V4/5 onwards) should have dual 30mm Rheinmetall-Borsig autocannons, but due to the Machine Gun Pack mod only having a modelled 20mm autocannon that's what's onboard. - Why does the airbrake open when you yaw instead of, historically accurate, wing-mounted flaps? Wing-mounted flaps can't be configured to actually work well with this build and would cost FPS due to 4 more bearings being needed (and possibly bug out). I wanted to atleast have some sort of visual feedback for the yaw, so airbrakes it is. - If the plane won't spawn because of a missing item, additionally download the LEGACY SUPPORT MODPACK by durf from the Steam workshop. Available here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=895738008&searchtext=Legacy+Support+Modpack - Thanks a lot to all the fantastic building parts mod creators. Without you folks this would not have been possible at all. Thanks again fellas. Copying and reuploading this creation with or without modifications is, without my given permission, prohibited.
